4. But I'm a Cheerleader

This movie is a hilarious, satirical queer cult classic. Dubbed the gay version of Clueless, the movie But I’m a Cheerleader was released in 1999 and was not initially well-received, perhaps because it was ahead of its time. The movie follows a highschooler, Megan, as she’s sent to conversion therapy camp where she ironically finds herself and learns to embrace her sexuality. The movie makes fun of overdone stereotypes, common microaggressions, and ignorances. It’s a fun, light-hearted, and hilarious watch centered around queer friendship and love.

5. Bare

This 2015 American drama follows the life of a small-town girl in Nevada whose life suddenly gets spicy when she falls in love with a random drifter. The movie follows the dramatic ups and downs of Sarah and Pepper as they find themselves in a whirlwind lesbian relationship.
