Grab some popcorn and indulge yourself with some queer movies about love, community, friendship, family, hardship and more! Here are ten movies to binge this Pride month.

1. Stud Life

Stud Life is about a queer friendship between two wedding photographers. The two main characters, JJ and Seb, are portrayed as an unexpected pair of best friends who find comfort and solace in each other as they stumble through life, looking for love in the wrong places. This 2012 British drama is far from stereotypical. It covers queer love, community, and identity.

2. In the Grayscale

After Dotty is moved into a nursing home by her family, the couple decides to break her out and go on a road trip to Nova Scotia to get married. In a world where we rarely see older queer people, Cloudburst is much appreciated. It’s a refreshing, fun movie full of love and laughter.

4. But I'm a Cheerleader

This movie is a hilarious, satirical queer cult classic. Dubbed the gay version of Clueless, the movie But I’m a Cheerleader was released in 1999 and was not initially well-received, perhaps because it was ahead of its time. The movie follows a highschooler, Megan, as she’s sent to conversion therapy camp where she ironically finds herself and learns to embrace her sexuality.

The movie makes fun of overdone stereotypes, common microaggressions, and ignorances. It’s a fun, light-hearted, and hilarious watch centered around queer friendship and love.

5. Bare

This 2015 American drama follows the life of a small-town girl in Nevada whose life suddenly gets spicy when she falls in love with a random drifter. The movie follows the dramatic ups and downs of Sarah and Pepper as they find themselves in a whirlwind lesbian relationship.

7. 52 Tuesdays

52 Tuesdays is an Australian drama focused on the coming out and transitioning of a middle-aged transgender man, through the eyes of his teenage daughter. This movie follows the man and his daughter over the course of one year, where we see both characters change and grow together. 52 Tuesdays is painful, beautiful, and captivating.
