How to Make Flaxseed Milk: Recipe
Flaxseeds produce a thick, jelly-like substance when processed, and so require a lot of patience to filter when filtering out with a cheesecloth. It’s best to leave it for about 10 minutes before returning to scrape the rest of the gel. You can even put it in the freezer for 5 minutes to make removing the flaxseed gel from the top easier. You will need:
- 1/4 cup whole flaxseeds OR 1/3 cup flaxseed meal
- 3 cups water
- Pinch of salt
- 1 large date (Medjool works nicely)
- Place all the ingredients in the blender thoroughly.
- Pour into a container and leave it to rest for 10 minutes. During this time, the seed husks & fibers will separate, making it easier to scoop out.
- Next, filter with your cheesecloth. Your milk is ready to use! It can be stored in the fridge for around 3-5 days.
