Winter Beet Ginger Kombucha Cocktail
Seasonal ingredients in the winter can seem a bit limited at times, but this beet ginger kombucha cocktail spices things up and still gives a bright and refreshing cocktail to enjoy during the colder months. As beets are grown in many areas of the US, it’s quite easy to find locally grown beets especially if you live in a Western region.
This cocktail has notes of ginger, beet, and cardamom, giving this refreshing cocktail warm winter spice notes, yet bright beet flavor to hold you throw the winter.
Ingredients
- 2 oz red beet juice (unsweetened)
- 2 oz light rum
- Splash of agave
- 2 dashes of cardamom bitters
- 3 oz ginger kombucha
Recipe
- Add beet juice, rum, splash of agave, and bitters to a mixing tin with ice.
- Shake mixing tin for about 10 seconds.
- Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
- Top with kombucha and serve.
Spring Kombucha Mimosa
Mimosa’s are a staple of the ever-popular weekend brunch ritual and spring is a natural time to get back into a more social mood. As the sun rises and sets later, it’s easy to feel a new sense of rejuvenation. Pair this spring energy with a lighter kombucha cocktail that’s bubbly and easy to create.
The specific kombucha flavor used in this cocktail is up to the eye of the beholder, as many flavors of kombucha can pair beautifully with a light sparkling wine. The following recipe is per kombucha mimosa, as they should be poured individually in sparkling champagne flutes or wine glasses.
Ingredients
- Assorted berries (optional)
- 4 oz chilled sparkling wine
- 2 ounces chilled kombucha
Recipe
- If desired, add six to eight berries to a sparkling champagne flute or wine glass.
- Pour the wine into the glass/flute.
- Top with kombucha.
Virgin Basil Peach Kombucha Cocktail
This summertime basil peach kombucha cocktail is a fruity and herbal delicacy that’s perfect as a refreshment on a sweltering day. In the heat of summer, peach season begins around the middle of July in many of the 20 states that grow peaches nationally.
If you’re a lucky resident of one of those locations, this is the (virgin) cocktail for you. It can also be easily adjusted to be spiked with booze if preferred. Just add 1-2 ounces of vodka or gin.
If using a kombucha that is already sweetened, you may want to skip adding simple syrup or honey in this recipe altogether. Because kombuchas often have different sugar contents, we recommend making the cocktail first and then taste-testing it to see if it needs to be sweeter. Everyone has different palettes when it comes to sweetness, but a bit of sugar to balance the acidity of the lemon is usually a good call.
Ingredients
- 7 basil leaves
- 7 slices of peach
- 1 oz lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- Splash of simple syrup or honey
- 1-2 oz of vodka or gin (optional)
- 2 oz Kombucha (plain or ginger flavored)
Recipe
- In a mixing tin, add 4 basil leaves, 5 peach slices, and lemon juice. Also add the syrup or honey, if you prefer a sweeter drink. Muddle with a wooden spoon or pestle.
- Option to add 1-2 oz of vodka or gin.
- Add a scoop of ice to the mixing tin. Shake until well combined (about 10 seconds)
- Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
- Top with kombucha.
- Garnish with remaining peach slices and basil leaves.
- Enjoy!
