Despite its name, the White Russian cocktail was invented by Belgian barman Gustave Tops in 1949. A White Russian is a popular cocktail made with vodka, coffee liqueur, and cream. Coffee liqueur is a caffeinated alcoholic drink that mixes liqueur and coffee. If you want to enjoy this delicious drink, do it the vegan way. Here’s how you can make a vegan White Russian at home.
Instructions for Making a Vegan White Russian
Ingredients:
- 2/3 oz. vodka
- 1 oz. plant-based organic oat creamer, available on Amazon**
- 2/3 oz. Kahlua original coffee liqueur, available exclusively on their website. (be careful, as other Kahlua products contain dairy)
- 6-10 fluid oz. glass (rocks glass)
Instructions:
- Put your desired amount of fresh ice into the glass.
- Pour the vodka and coffee liqueur over the ice.
- Add the organic oat creamer on top and stir to combine all the ingredients of your vegan White Russian.
For an alcohol-free version:
- Replace coffee liqueur with actual espresso: one shot.
- Replace vodka with a vanilla cream soda.
