A Vietnamese avocado smoothie (Sinh tố bơ) is a creamy drink full of good fats — it only takes 5 minutes to make and only uses 4 ingredients, check it out!

Thick, creamy, and slightly nutty, a Vietnamese avocado smoothie will surprise you with its unique taste.  This recipe uses avocados, condensed milk, milk, and ice, all blitzed in the blender to create a thick, buttery texture — the Vietnamese name, Sinh tố bơ, actually translates to “butter fruit smoothie”.

Although this recipe is a smoothie, it could actually be consumed as a healthy breakfast or even as a dessert. The condensed milk adds sweetness, the amount can be adjusted according to taste, as can the amount of milk if you want something less thick.

When buying avocados, make sure they’re organic and grown locally whenever possible. They are grown in California, Florida, and Hawaii, though domestic cultivation can’t cover the huge demand for them. A large number of avocados are imported from other countries, primarily Mexico, so treat yourself to this smoothie now and then.

We’ll also explain how to make a vegan version of this Vietnamese avocado smoothie, which is just as simple and will take only five minutes to whip up.

  1. Chop the avocados in half and remove the pit. Scoop the avocado flesh into a blender.
  2. Pour the milk and condensed milk into the blender and add the ice.
  3. Blend until smooth and serve immediately.
