Not all vegan clothing brands are cruelty-free. We've compiled a list of the most eco-friendly, ethical, and stylish brands available in the US today.
Many brands sell vegan clothing, but where and what you buy still makes a big difference. Synthetic fibers, for example, are more likel to be cruelty-free, but are generally bad for the environment. They are often made from petroleum and may produce microplastics that end up in rivers and oceans. Vegan clothing made from natural fibers like cotton or recycled materials is usually the better option. Truly sustainable vegan brands will also have ethical working conditions on their entire production chain. Don’t know where to start looking? Here are 12 vegan clothing brands to check out.
Manufacturing needs a lot of resources and energy. Secondhand clothing does not use up any extra resources at all — plus it’s usually cheaper! Check out our guide on six great places to buy and sell secondhand clothes online.
