‘Tis the season for social gatherings, potlucks, and parties with plenty of food to go around. Make it easy on yourself this year with some no-bake Christmas treats. We’ll share our no-bake Christmas cookie recipe for dirty snowballs.

Whether you’ve been invited to take part in a Christmas cookie exchange, you need to bring something along to a Christmas get-together, or you just want to enjoy some treats during the holidays without the stress of baking, this no-bake Christmas treat recipe is for you.

With a name like “dirty snowballs”, these no-bake Christmas cookies might not sound the most appetizing, but don’t let the name fool you. These delicious and boozy treats will have you reaching for a second…or even third! If you want to skip the spiced rum, you can opt for rum extract instead to make a kid-friendly version.

Just remember, the best ingredients yield the best results. Whenever possible, we recommend purchasing organic and fair-trade items, especially when it comes to ingredients like cocoa powder and coconut flour/milk. This ensures that the workers are paid fairly for the products and the work that they do, and has less of an environmental impact than their conventional counterparts.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup organic coconut flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened organic cocoa powder
  • ⅓ cup condensed coconut milk
  • ⅓ cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp spiced rum or 1 tsp rum extract
  • ⅓ cup chopped almonds
  • zest of a clementine

Decoration

  • ½ shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Sift together the coconut flour and cocoa powder in a large bowl.
  2. Then add the rest of the ingredients in, and combine until there are no clumps.
  3. Allow dough to chill in the fridge for approximately 1 hour.
  4. Remove from the fridge, and roll the dough into small balls, then roll the balls in the shredded coconut.
  5. Once finished, place them back into the fridge to set before serving.

Note: These will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days…though they’ll probably disappear before that!
