Learning how to make some of your favorite takeaway food and beverages at home is a great way to save money, cut back on waste, and can also be a nice surprise for friends and family when you entertain. The key to a good pumpkin spice latte is the right balance of spice and good quality pumpkin. While you can take the easy way and purchase both canned pumpkin purée and pumpkin pie spice in a grocery store, making your own spice blend and pumpkin purée adds an extra special element.

To make the perfect pumpkin pie spice blend, combine the following ingredients

  • 3 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

Tip: You can also use this blend to make vegan pumpkin cheesecake.

The following recipe will make two homemade pumpkin spice lattes

  • 1¼ cups homemade oat milk
  • ¾ cup strong brewed fair trade coffee
  • 3 tbsp. pumpkin purée
  • 3 tbsp. organic maple syrup
  • 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ tsp. pure vanilla extract

  1. Add all the ingredients into a blender or food processor, and blend until smooth and frothy.
  2. Pour the liquid mixture into a small saucepan and heat it on medium-low heat. Whisk the mixture frequently.
  3. Once the mixture is heated through, remove from the stove and pour into two separate mugs.
  4. You can add some more pumpkin pie spice, or vegan whipped cream on top for an extra luxurious beverage.

Now you’re ready to grab a book, curl up on the couch, and enjoy a hot cup of pumpkin spice latte.
